Job DescriptionThe SHE Associate is responsible for overseeing and driving all SHE related activities for their area of responsibility.
The Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Associate will support the implementation and maintenance of the SHE Management System (SHEMS) at the Technical Institute in Qatar.
The job holder will ensure the Technical Institute is aligned to UK standards and will involve the implementation and maintenance of the SHE Management System (Certified to OHSAS18001 and ISO14001), leading on risk assessment, accident / incident analysis and assurance activity, along with a wide variety of related tasks that fall within this diverse role.
You will also be an ambassador for cultural change within the business, able to influence and promote a positive SHE culture at all levels, applicable to all operations and activities within the Technical Institute.
ResponsibilitiesSupport the management of all safety risks within the Technical Institute, ensure they arecontinually assessed, consistently managed, and appropriately escalated to assure the overallsafe operations.
Provide competent advice and guidance at SHE Committee Meetings.Ensure the Air Sector business SHE objectives are understood and embedded in the businessand status reported at the required frequency.
Ensure a risk / hazard management tool is effectively managed and maintained, conduct hazard / risk analyses, complete risk and opportunity register and produce / monitor plans to reduce risks.
Assist in the co-ordination of independent safety and assurance audit activities, ensuring SHE polices are being applied effectively.
Produce, where necessary, Environmental Impact Assessments.Assist in the investigation of the causes of accidents, injuries or illness related to the working environment and develop solutions to minimise or prevent a reoccurrence.
Manage emergency procedures and organising emergency teams and key responsibilities.Conduct training and provide guidance to all members of the Technical Institute.
Facilitate the review of Customer safety related dependencies identified and captured by the project.Support the Operations Manager in ensuring the SHEMS meets all contractual requirements.
Act as a primary point of contact for all Health and Safety matters, the job holder must maintain a positive working relationship with all key stakeholders (including the Qatar Armed Forces) in providing SHEMS support.
Support the safe introduction of new capabilities.Produce reports for management, at varying frequencies, as appropriate.
They may also be required to prepare and deliver presentations to support SHE activities as and when directed.Demonstrate the appropriate behaviours, fostering a culture that is focused on health and safety and provide guidance to all staff on safety concerns and issues.
Deliver SHE Induction training for all new arrivals.QualificationsYou will hold the NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health and will be working towards the NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health (or equivalent).
A minimum of two years’ experience in an environment health and safety role.Knowledge of the applicable laws (UK & Qatar), regulations.
The SHE Associate must be able to influence at all levels within the organization; therefore, in addition to technical knowledge certain key behavioral competencies are required : The ability to promote change and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Strong organizational and motivational skills.Competent in the use of IT, spreadsheets, word processing and database management.
Must be able to coordinate multiple priorities in a dynamic operating environment, working with a high degree of autonomy.
